Bio

David Bernot is an accomplished saxophonist, doubler, composer, arranger, teacher and band leader based in Denver Colorado. 

 

As a freelance musician, David's style range is eclectic, ranging from Jazz and Musical Theater, to Funk and EDM (Electronic Dance Music). David works as a freelance gigging and session musician not to mention he also finds time to book his own projects around Denver. 

 

David earned his Bachelors in Jazz Saxophone in 2016 from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver in 2016. While studying at Lamont, he received many accolades, such as his first ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer scholarship, 2 of the school’s annual solo jazz competitions, and a Downbeat award for “Best Collegiate Combo”. David also earned a performance certificate from the Lamont School of Music in 2017. Currently he is pursuing his masters in Jazz Studies and Pedagogy at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he is also a Teaching Assistant for the Thompson Jazz Program. 

 

Some notable jazz musicians David has worked and performed with include, Greg Gisbert, Bob Mintzer, Wayne Bergeron, Frank Greene, Ellis Marsalis, Colin Stranahan, Denis Diblasio, Steve Wiest, Dave Holland, and Lee Konitz. 

David Bernot is committed to educating the next generation of jazz musicians. He teaches private lessons and works with jazz student groups through the program Colorado Conservatory of the Jazz Arts. He takes every opportunity possible to learn and understand the art form, so that he can pass down the legacy of the music in his playing and educating.
